My first time...

Well hello all...

I have just stated knitting as of yesterday and I have to say that I am finding it kind of fun!
I just started (as i just said) so I am having some problems such as after get the first row on (casting on) and then I change hands and start with the knit stitch (its the only one i know just now). How do I keep the end stitches from becoming loose and staying loose. What happens when I am trying to work and one of my needles slips and i loose several stitches in the process.. Do I have to start over each time that happens? Is there not a way to put them back on the stick with out having to undo all the way down?
Also I am using 10.0 mm, bamboo knitting needles. Is this a good size to learn on and is this a good material to learn on? Because I have bamboo needles, so do I need to consider a certain kind of yarn or stay away from any?
Some of these questions probably don't make a lot of scene. Like I have already said twice (this will be the third time now:) I have just started. and though the fire is just an ember I can see this fairing up into a full blown bond fire!!!!! YEA!!!KNITTING!!

Please let me know if there are any suggestions on my questions above. I would love to hear from others who have been bit by the knitting bug. :)

Oh and when I have the time I will up load the picture of the 'something' I ahve been working on. I have had to start and stop and start all over several times but i took a picture when it was the longest I have gotten it so far.!!! I have already had to stat over twice since this picture (when I post it)
